LONDON - Scottish Government is currently investigating in the Lockerbie plane bombing by asking former Libyan foreign minister Mussa Kussa who had defected to Britain.

Scotland's police chief met with former "right hand" the Libyan leader, Muamar Gaddafi to ask for his involvement regarding the bombing in 1988.

"We want to convey that the police officers Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary, supported by the COPFS (Scottish public law service), to meet with Mussa Kussa to conduct an investigation of their relation to the Lockerbie bombing," the statement COPFS, as reported by AFP on Friday ( 04/08/2011).

The result of the meeting itself was not informed to the public in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

Kussa unexpectedly arrived in England on 30 March and resigned from his post as foreign minister of Libya.

Prosecutors and detectives from the Scotland Dumfries and Galloway force a meeting with British Foreign Ministry official last week when asked directly to speak with Kussa about the incident.

Libyan agent, Abdelbaset Mohmet Ali al-Megrahi, was the only suspect who was convicted of bombing Pan Am flight with flight number 103 that exploded in Lockerbie in December 1988 that killed 270 people.
