TAIPEI - Taiwan's government plans to create a region where released sex trade. This sex specific zone will facilitate the police to supervise and protect the rights of sex workers.
"The government intends to open the sex industry run more humane to give regulations and in line with public opinion that exists today," said Interior Ministry spokesman Liu Wen-Shih Taiwan as quoted by AFP on Thursday (07/04/2011).
Through the new rules made by Taiwan, the future of commercial sex workers (CSWs) are required to choose a license to operate in the sex zone. If caught engaging in transactions outside this particular area, the prostitutes and their clients will be subject to fines.
Establishment of special zones of sex is in line with requests from citizens. Previously, based on polls conducted last year, Taiwan residents who support this special zone reached 76.5 percent.
But sex zone is not without opposition. Approximately 14.5 percent of residents who follow the polls balked at this localization.
The ministry cancel previous plans that want to create a brothel without a localized area. It is suspected to complicate oversight of the operation brothel that later.
