2015, IPAD Still King Tablets

WASHINGTON - Despite facing increasing competition, predicted Apple's iPad will still rule the tablet market until several years into the future. Similarly, analysis of research firm Gartner.

Gartner predicts market share will slightly decline iPad is because of intense competition. However iPad still controlled almost half the sales of tablets in 2015.

As reported by Straits Times, Tuesday (04/12/2011), Gartner warns iPad will record 47 percent of global tablet sales reached approximately 294.3 million units in 2015. This figure was down after a record 63.5 percent of total sales of 108.2 million units in 2012 and 68.7 percent from 69.7 million units to be sold this year.

Released April last year, iPad tablet market controlled 83.9 percent of total sales of 17.6 million units during 2010.

Meanwhile, Android-based tablets to chart a steady growth. If last year's Android recorded 14.2 percent market share in the tablet, this year that figure will grow to 19.9 percent. In 2012 Android will control 24.4 percent and 38.6 percent of the tablet market in 2015.

Tablets with QNX software platform owned by Research In Motion will record 5.6 per cent market share this year, 6.6 percent in 2012 and 10 percent in 2015.

Another important player for the tablet market, according to Gartner analysis, are Hewlett-Packard with WebOS platform from Palm. Tablet-based WebOS predicted a 4 percent market share until the end of 2011, 3.9 percent in 2012 and 3 percent in 2015.

While the other big names like Microsoft, which has marketed Windows operating system to manufacturers of tablets, 'disappeared' from the list of Gartner's predictions.
